The short version: Colourtone edits your photographs on your device. We do not sell your data, we collect very little of it, and what we do collect exists to keep the app running well. The longer version follows, as the law prefers.
Who we are
Colourtone® is a photo and video editing app for iOS, made by Cee Enterprises Pty Ltd ("Colourtone", "we", "us"), based in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Colourtone app or visit colourtone.app, and what we do with it. Questions go to hello@colourtone.app.
Your photographs and videos
Editing happens on your device. Your photographs and videos are not uploaded to our servers as part of editing, and we cannot see them. The app requests access to your photo library solely so you can import media into the Studio and save your edits back. Tones you create are stored on your device and in your personal iCloud where applicable.
What we collect
We collect a small amount of information to run the app properly:
- Purchase and subscription data. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive anonymised subscription status (for example, that a subscription is active) through Apple and our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat, so the app knows which features to unlock. We never see your payment details.
- Crash and performance data. We use Crashlytics (Google LLC) to learn when the app crashes and why, so we can fix it. This includes device model, iOS version, and technical crash logs. This data is processed in the United States.
- Usage analytics. Aggregated, anonymised statistics through Apple's App Analytics, which only includes users who have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in their iOS settings.
- Advertising identifiers. If we run advertising campaigns, we may measure their performance using your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and only where you have granted permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining changes nothing about how the app works.
- Contact details. Your email address, and if you choose to share them, your name and phone number. Only if you give them to us, by joining the mailing list or writing to support. Mailing list dispatches come with a working unsubscribe link, no hard feelings.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your photographs. We do not build advertising profiles of you. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because our website does not track you in a way that would require it.
Legal bases
Where privacy law requires a legal basis for processing (such as under the GDPR for members in Europe), we rely on: performance of a contract (delivering the app you have chosen to use), your consent (mailing list, tracking permissions), and our legitimate interests (keeping the app stable and secure).
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as the law requires. Crash data is retained on Crashlytics' standard schedule. Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@colourtone.app and we will sort it out. You may also lodge a complaint with your local privacy regulator, which in Australia is the OAIC.
Children
Colourtone is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfect, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small, which remains the best security measure available.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we will update the effective date above and, where changes are significant, note it in the app or by email. Continued use of Colourtone after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
